MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) -

Mount Pleasant police are still investigating after the manager of Tavern & Table was shot during an armed robbery Wednesday night.

Tavern & Table is a popular restaurant on Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant.

“We come here once a week,” Mount Pleasant resident Dalton Froehlich said about his family. “We like to bring our dog. We love it down here. Great food and drinks. We feel really safe.”

Froehlich was shocked when he learned Tavern & Table was robbed at gunpoint the night before.

“I didn’t think that was a thing that could happen , but I know freak things happen,” Froehlich said.

One of Tavern & Table’s owners, Dianne Crowley, said she got the phone call from staff overnight about the armed robbery and shooting.

According to Mount Pleasant Police, the suspect came inside the restaurant back door and demanded money.

“Never have I run into anything like this. Never have we been threatened,” Crowley said. “This person knew what they were doing. Our doors were locked. They walked in when we were taking out our trash.”

Crowley said he shot restaurant manager Chris Dixon in the back before leaving out this same back door.

Dixon has worked with the restaurant team for more than 15 years and is a new father.

“He’s in stable condition but seriously injured,” Crowley said. “We’ll be on hand to help in any way we need and I know this community will stand up.”

“I just wish them the best of luck and hopefully everything goes well,” Froehlich said.

Police are still investigating.

Right now, they report the suspect is a male wearing a black hoodie and a red bandana over his face.

No arrests have been made yet.

“I will not spare any time or money ever to make sure he pays for what he did,” Crowley said.

Crowley said the restaurant plans to implement key fobs to help increase security in the future.

If you know anything about this crime, you’re urged to call Crime Stoppers immediately at (843)554-1111.
