JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - James Island is one step closer to getting a new park.
The green space, which would cost roughly $600,000, would be located on the site of the old Subway building near the intersection of Folly and Camp roads.. Conversations about the park at the city level have taken place over the past three weeks. The plan includes a few benches and a lot for fewer than 10 cars.
Construction in the area just wrapped up in March when turn lanes and traffic signals were added in an effort to reduce traffic congestion. Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m, the Charleston County Council will decide whether they will buy the property on behalf of the town of James Island.
The money would come from the Greenbelt Fund.
