BLUFFTON, SC (WCSC) - The Bluffton Police Department Traffic Enforcement Team will be conducting a traffic safety checkpoint Sunday morning.

The checkpoint will last from midnight to 2 a.m. and will be placed on Bluffton Parkway at Oliver Court.

The objective of this traffic safety checkpoint is to apprehend impaired drivers and to enforce all other traffic law pertaining to traffic safety, according to the Bluffton Police Department.

This checkpoint is also in conjunction with the 2018 Walk like MADD which is happening Saturday in Columbia.

A mandatory fine of $5,100 to $10,100 and imprisonment from 30 days to 15 years when great bodily injury occurs.

A mandatory fine of $10,100 to $25,100 and imprisonment from one to 25 years when death occurs.
