MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) - A 21-year-old woman has been arrested after police say she reported a fake kidnapping in Moncks Corner.

The Moncks Corner Police Department arrested Chandler Brooke Myers and charged her with filing a false police report. Paul Kenneth Holmes Jr. also faces the same charge.

Officials with the Moncks Corner Police Department say the incident happened on March 30 and started when they were notified of a kidnapping that happened in the Foxbank Plantation neighborhood.

According to police, Myers said she was traveling in the neighborhood when two male subjects jumped in her car, put a gun to her head and forced her to drive off.

"While she was driving off, she struck a parked truck nearby and then left the neighborhood onto Highway 52," MCPD officials said.

The owner of the truck saw the accident, got into the truck and followed Myers' vehicle into town while contacting police.

When Myers' vehicle stopped in the area of the 200 block of Main Street two male subjects fled from Myers' car, police said.

The truck driver reported that Myers was "hysterical," and when she got out of the car she screamed that she had a gun to her head.

"One [of the suspects] was apprehended minutes later and the other was identified," officers said.

A police report indicates a juvenile was placed into custody along with Myers and Holmes.

"Upon further investigation of the incident, detectives were able to determine that the kidnapping accusation was false," MCPD officials said.
