Three people transported to the hospital after train accident in Dorchester Co.

DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Three people have been transported to the hospital following a train accident in Ridgeville, according to officials with the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office.

According to Tony Phinney with the sheriff's office, a train hit a vehicle near Dukes BBQ on 118 N. Railroad Ave.

Motorists reported that a train hit a semi truck that was stuck on the railroad tracks.

Kathy Newhall took pictures of the accident and said that the semi got stuck crossing the tracks, but the driver managed to jump out of the truck.

According to Newhall, the train hit the semi and threw machinery into a parked truck which flipped.

Residents reported that another vehicle was also damaged on the other side of the railroad tracks.

DCSO officials said the accident happened around 7:45 p.m.
