ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Deputies have arrested one man after an argument over a card game led to another man being shot in the leg.

Officials with the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office have arrested 43-year-old Dimitrios Vail of Santee and charged him with attempted murder.

Bond was set at $25,000.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell described the incicent as "senseless," saying a firearm is not the way to handle a simple game.

"What in the world during a game would cause someone to act this way?" the sheriff said. "If you are becoming that angry – don't play. But to resort to violence over a game is ludicrous."

On April 12, investigators were called to a Vance home after a man was reported to have been shot.

"Investigators arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg," OCSO officials said."The man initially refused to say who shot him."

A report states he did say an argument erupted over a card game.

"Witnesses, however, identified Vail as the shooter, a man who is a coworker with the victim at a Charleston area place of business," OCSO officials said.

Vail was taken into custody in Charleston on Monday by the US Marshals.
