Charleston Co. to announce launch of new web-based 911 system Wednesday

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Charleston area residents will soon have another way to get in touch with emergency officials.

Charleston County will announce the launch of a new web-based emergency system at 10 a.m. Wednesday. There is no app needed and anyone with internet access can use the service, according to Charleston County spokesman Kelsey Barlow Roland.

Roland cited citizens using different methods to communicate as one reason the county is launching the service.
