Lowcountry DJ Frankie "The Big Bopper" Green dies

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A famous disc jockey in the Lowcountry has passed away.

His formal name was Frankie Green, but radio listeners knew him as "Frankie The Big Bopper".

He played old school and the blues every Saturday on radio station Magic 107.3 and provided a throwback to the old days of radio.

The Bopper entertained his listeners with history nuggets and rarely played songs, featuring everyone from Otis Redding and Muddy Waters to the Temptations and the Supremes.

This is a developing story and Live 5 will pass along more about his death and funeral services as they come in.
