Former Baptist Hill student suing CCSD in sexual misconduct lawsuit

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A former Baptist High School student is suing the Charleston County School District after she says she was exposed to sexual misconduct by an employee in close proximity to school administrators.

Tron Grant was arrested in February and accused of having sex with a student at Baptist Hill in 2006.

At the time of his arrest, Grant was a coach for Ashley Ridge High School's girl's basketball team.

Now, the student is suing the Charleston County School District for gross negligence.

This all happened back in 2006 when Grant was a student concern specialist at Baptist Hill.

The lawsuit comes from the student, now an adult, who's labeled as "Jane Doe" in the lawsuit for privacy purposes.

She claims Grant's sexual interest in her was plainly visible to CCSD staff and administration.

The lawsuit claims Grant would repeatedly take the victim from class to his office and engage in inappropriate conduct.

It also says Grant frequently walked around campus with the student and would wait outside her classes to see her in close proximity to school administrators.

The victim says she started getting counseling last year at which point she realized the full extent of psychological trauma caused by Grant.

Grant posted bond back in February and has not worked for the district since that time.

The victim is now asking that the case go to trial.
