SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Concern is growing as the streets of Summerville are lined with garbage.
People living in Summerville have been complaining for months that residential collection service company Waste Pro picks up trash late and doesn't properly dispose of it.
"Ever since they made a decision in Summerville to not use them as their carrier, we've been having problems with our trash being picked up," says Summerville resident Gwendolyn Rodgers. "If they don't pick it up this week, then next week we're still going to have an overload again if they don't come until Friday of next week."
Back at the end of March, Summerville Town Council voted to sever ties with Waste Pro and sign on with a new company for garbage collection.
However, Waste Pro is still responsible for trash collection until that company takes over in a few months.
Summerville Town Administrator Colin Martin says that they are looking to find a solution for the problem.
"We certainly do understand the problem, the issues, and look for the resolution soon," Martin said. "They anticipate with the additional trucks on Sunday to be back up and on schedule Monday and Tuesday."
Attempts to reach Waste Pro for comment were unsuccessful.
