CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

A crash involving a truck has blocked a lane of traffic on the Westmoreland Bridge in West Ashley.

The incident, reported at 12:53 p.m., shut down the left eastbound lane near mile marker 214, headed from West Ashley to Mount Pleasant, according to Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis.

Minor injuries were reported in the incident, Francis said.

The combination of heavy rain in the area and the blocked lane was backing up traffic headed to Mount Pleasant.

At 1:55 p.m., estimated drive time from West Ashley to Mount Pleasant was 41 minutes, with average estimated speeds down to 31 mph.

Congestion was reported west of the crash past Paul Cantrell Boulevard towards Savannah Highway.
