ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Orangeburg County deputies are searching for a car in connection to a shooting that injured a teenager.

The shooting happened around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday when a 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

"Witnesses said the 16-year-old youth and a companion were walking through Roosevelt Gardens apartment complex when an unknown vehicle approached," OCSO officials said.

The two said as the car got closer, someone from inside began "spraying bullets."

According to a report, the two dove to the ground, however the 16-year-old realized he was struck in the leg.

His friend then drove him to the hospital.

"Investigators are asking the public's help in locating a late model white Audi bearing paper plates," OCSO officials said.

The sheriff's office released a photo of an Audi which they say is similar to the one witnesses reported seeing.

If anyone has any information on the vehicle, they are asked to call the OCSO at 803-534-3550 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
