Police: Shots fired, car damaged in parking lot of Savannah highway business

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police responded to a reported shooting after hearing shots in West Ashley Tuesday night.

An officer was working the scene of an accident when he heard six shots fired in the area of Savannah highway. Not long after, 911 calls began to come in about shots fired in the parking lot of 1595 Savannah Highway, according to the incident report.

Witnesses and the victim said they heard eight shots fired in the parking lot across from the business at 1591 Savannah Highway, the report stated. Shell casings were located in the parking lot, but no suspects were found in the area or in any hospitals. A 2012 Chevy Malibu parked in the lot had bullet damage to a front window, and passenger side dash and front passenger side bumper, the report stated.

The vehicle was not occupied at the time, the report said. A witness stated they saw the suspect come out from a tree line, begin firing his gun across the parking lot toward the are where some people were standing, the report stated. The witness then said they saw the group leave the area quickly, according to the report.
