ISLE OF PALMS, SC (WCSC) - Daily parking rates on the Isle of Palms will change to hourly Tuesday.
City officials released a statement stating that daytime visitors will only be charged $1 per hour.
Prior to the change, the municipal lot on Pavilion Drive charged a daily flat rate of $8 on weekdays and $10 on weekends and holidays.
"It is a positive step forward for the city," Mayor Jim Carroll said. "By making it affordable and accessible for all."
If you are handicapped, a disabled veteran, or a purple heart recipient make sure to display the appropriate license plate, or placard, there will be no charge for your vehicle. Handicap parking is available in the small municipal parking lot behind the public safety building at no charge for vehicles displaying the right license plate or placard.
The hourly rate only applies to the municipal lots. Metered parking on Ocean Boulevard near Front Breach between 10th and 14th avenues will remain at $1.50 per hour.
