NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - It's billed as an alternative to prison for non-violent offenders caught up in drugs or alcohol.

The Ninth Judicial Circuit Drug Court held its graduation ceremony on Wednesday evening.

Four people graduated from the program which encourages self-sufficiency through a 15-month curriculum.

In lieu of jail time, qualified participants must maintain employment or be furthering their education, attend regular counseling sessions, and pass drug tests.
