CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The new park-and-ride service that runs to and from downtown Charleston has found some success in the first 10 days.
1,195 people used the service in the first 10 days, that's an average of roughly 119 people per day in total route ridership, which is the industry standard.
The new Park-and-Ride parking lot is located at 999 Morrison Dr. in downtown Charleston. It provides an alternative to metered parking downtown, which just recently went up to $2 per hour with enforcement hours extended until 10 p.m.
The program was designed to help hospitality workers, but anyone can use the service. There are 170 parking spaces in the new park-and-ride parking lot. Parking in the lot costs $5 for 24 hours. The service will run from 6 a.m. to 3 a.m. every day.
