MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Family and friends gathered together to honor a murdered Charleston man through the game of golf.
On Sunday, more than 100 golfers made their way to the Links at Patriots Point in honor of Bryan Cooke.
The tournament was followed by a reception and dinner.
On Feb. 23, Cooke was shot during an attempted robbery while renovating a home for veterans in North Charleston.
His father, Mike Cooke, was also shot multiple times but survived.
Bryan Cooke is survived by his wife Jenna Cooke, and 5-year old daughter Sophia Cooke.
"This would've meant the world to Bryan and we know it means the world to his family," Cooke family friend Will Smith said. "We take this day to honor him, his family, those left behind."
The goal of the tournament was also to shed light on the issue of violence in the area, said event organizer Mary Schultz.
"This was a senseless, violent act by really young guys. There has to be something we can stand up and do and say enough is enough," Schultz said.
All of the proceeds from the tournament go directly to the Cooke family.
