DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A Dorchester County man has been charged with murder in a case stretching back to June 2017.
Terry Andrew Gilliam has been charged with killing Christopher Joseph Simmons in St. George after a witness came forward and gave a statement saying Gilliam confessed to the murder, according to the affidavit.
Gilliam was also the last person to see Simmons alive and was also found to be in possession of Simmons' car on the night he was killed, according to the affidavit. DNA from a vehicle also came back to match Gilliam, the affidavit stated.
On June 19, 2017, Simmons was found dead in the middle of Deerwood Road in St. George. Gilliam's bond was denied, but he was already in the Dorchester County Detention Center on unrelated charges, according to DCSO Maj. Tony Phinney.
