Rep. Mark Sanford making stops in Charleston Thursday

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Rep. Mark Sanford is in Charleston Thursday to meet with constituents.

He will host a "coffee with your congressman" event Thursday morning at 8:15 a.m. at the Saffron Bakery in the 300 block of East Bay Street. He'll then head over to Meeting Street where he'll host a business roundtable at the Regions Bank at 9:30 a.m. Finally, he'll speak to students at West Ashley Middle School at 11 a.m.

The House Republican primary in South Carolina is scheduled for June 12. Katie Arrington (R-Summerville), has already said she will challenge him in the race.

Sanford served as the district rep from 1995-2001 before becoming governor from 2003 to 2011 and admitting to an extramarital affair in 2009. He has since returned to the first district seat in 2013.
