Coroner identifies NC woman killed in I-26 crash Friday

DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A North Carolina woman who died in a crash on I-26 Friday has been identified.

Sharon Marie Jordan, 53, of Harrisburg, North Carolina was ejected and killed when the SUV she was riding in as a passenger went off the roadway and overturned.

The crash happened near mile marker 181 on I-26WB at approximately 12:50 p.m., Southern said. That's between the Ridgeville and Harleyville exits and about 13 miles west of the Jedburg Road exit.

The driver of a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer ran off the left side of the roadway, then over-corrected.

"The vehicle then overturned and came to rest in the lanes of travel," Southern said.

The crash initially blocked all westbound lanes of the interstate. By 2:41 p.m., the left lane had reopened, troopers said. It took more than an hour after that for all lanes to reopen.

The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, Southern said.
