MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - The identity of the Mt. Pleasant man who died Saturday during a house fire has been released.

Phillip Major, 74, died on the scene as a result of complications from the fire says, Charleston County Deputy Coroner Kimberly Rhoton.

Fire crews are still trying to determine the cause of a house fire.

Charleston County dispatchers received a call about a fire at a home on Maggie Road at 6:29 a.m. and the first Mount Pleasant Fire crew was on the scene within four minutes, according to Mount Pleasant Fire Battalion Chief Troy Thomas.

Fire responders saw flames venting from the second story of the home, he said.

"Crews made an aggressive search and attack of the fire on the second floor," Thomas said. Firefighters found one victim inside the home.

Investigators have not yet pinpointed the cause of the fire but Thomas said the investigation is ongoing.
