NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police officers are searching for suspects after a drive-by shooting in North Charleston sent two teenagers to the hospital.

Shortly before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, NCPD officers responded to a parking lot on the 7600 block of Hunters Ridge Lane for two people suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officers arrived at the scene to find a 17-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to a report. The teenager was conscious and still breathing, but was in shock and couldn't speak clearly.

Witnesses told officers there was also a girl who needed help. Officers were able to find a 15-year-old girl with a towel pressed against her leg saying she was shot.

One of the victims said they were both walking when a dark-colored Tahoe approached them.

According to a report, the back passenger of the Tahoe opened fire, striking both victims, and fled on Hunters Ridge Lane toward Peppertree Lane.

Investigators describe the first suspect as a male who was covering his face and armed with a handgun.

The second suspect is described as a female who was driving the Tahoe.

Both of the victims were transported to an area for treatment.

Residents reported multiple police officers, EMS and fire crews responded to the scene.
