MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - A Mount Pleasant church is continuing to recover following a fire in April.
Wednesday, St. Andrews will hold an outdoor service. Venning Street next to the church will be shut down from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Food trucks will be set up with the service starting at 6 p.m.
Church officials say investigators told them it was an electrical issue which sparked the fire and no foul play was suspected.
The ministry center building is a separate building from the old historic church building, which was not damaged by fire.
Firefighters responded to a fire at the ministry center of St. Andrews Church on Whilden Street in the early morning hours of April 22. Services at the Mount Pleasant church were canceled, but the church invited people to attend services instead at one of its other locations. No injuries were reported.
Two days later, Bishop Steve Wood toured the damage, showcasing a wooden cross that was still standing.
Power to the historic church was restored two days later.
