CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - People are still reacting days after a music video went viral.

In the music video 'This is America' by Childish Gambino some believe it is hauntingly similar to the shooting at Mother Emanuel AME.

"It reminded me of what happened at Emanuel AME," said Charleston Native Charlamagne Tha God. "We all know a lot of these mass shootings are happening because of white men with high powered assault rifles."

The video shows Childish Gambino dancing and singing, and then moments later breaking out into violence, then carrying on as if nothing had happened.

"It was a lot of good message in the video even with the kids with the cell phone videotaping everything that was going on," said Charlamagne Tha God.

Many have said it shows the violence in America.

Charlamagne said the video does depict the reality of how some shootings happen.

"So why not show a white man shooting down that choir," asked the Charleston native. "If you're going to say this is America, you should show the whole totality of America."

Charlamagne said the Charleston community has changed since Mother Emanuel, and said some good did come out of the tragedy.

"I mean especially in South Carolina at least we got that Confederate Flag off the state house lawn," he said."If any good came out of that situation it was the Confederate Flag got taken down from the statehouse lawn."

The video was posted on May 5 and has nearly 70 million views.
