Summerville woman gives early morning birth on Mother's Day

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

A Summerville woman received a special delivery just in time for Mother's Day.

At 2:00 a.m., Shaneah Benson gave birth to daughter Miela Gadsden on Sunday, according to Summerville Medical Center spokesperson Kelly Bowen.

Miela was the first baby to be born on this year’s Mother’s Day at Summerville Medical Center.

The newborn weighed 6 lb.13 oz. and is 20 inches long.

Another baby was born at Trident Medical Center and several moms still in labor at both facilities.
