MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - A first-time mother is experiencing joy after giving birth on Mother's Day.

On Sunday, Leah Johnson of Mount Pleasant gave birth to Harper Anne Johnson at 5:07 p.m.

The baby girl weighed 7 lbs. 4 oz. and was 21.5 inches long, according to East Cooper Medical Center spokesperson Daisy Burroughs.

Johnson says she feels complete after giving birth to her new baby.

"Being a new mom has been the most joyful experience of my life and I feel so blessed," Johnson said. "I'm looking forward to cuddling her and smothering her with love every chance I get!"

Johnson also spoke about the care she received on the special day.

"The care that I've been given at East Cooper has been superior," she said.  "Every single nurse has been so attentive and I have felt that I could really trust each of them with my care over our four-day stay here."

Earlier on Sunday, a Summerville woman also received a special delivery when she gave birth to a baby girl.
