Woman stranded by Wando Bridge closure takes video of gator capture

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - What do you do when you can't get to work because of the Wando Bridge closure?

Take some video of a gator capture at your neighbor's home.

Cindy Phillips says she was stuck at home Tuesday morning in her neighborhood at Dunes West because of the lane closures on the Wando Bridge when something caught her attention.

"I noticed some of my neighbors in another yard and checked it out," Phillips said.

She then saw a gator on a front porch at a home on Tall Grass Circle.

The Mt. Pleasant animal control officer arrived on the scene with two other police officers not far behind.

Phillips took video of authorities capturing the 8-foot gator which took about 15 minutes.

"I couldn't get to work because of the bridge so instead I got to watch this," Phillips said.

According to Phillips, the gator was released in a nearby marsh.

"Let's hope he doesn't come back," she said.
