Bishop England wins 3-A baseball state title

SENECA, SC (WCSC) - Bishop England Junior lefty Geoffrey Gilbert finished a near perfect season in just the right way. The Clemson commit threw a complete game shutout giving up just 3 hits and had 6 strikeouts as the Bishops won their 2nd straight 3-A baseball state title with a 1-0 win over Seneca on the road Tuesday night.

With the win, BE finishes the season at 31-2. Gilbert, the Bishops ace, finished the year at 10-0 with a 0.20 ERA.

Bishop England scored the lone run of the game in the 3rd inning when Gregory Sanders knocked in Leo Albano with a basehit.

The championship is the 9th in school history for the Bishop England baseball program and 5th for head coach Mike Darnell.
