Coast Guard rescues two people on Capers Island after call for boat in distress

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The U.S. Coast Guard found two people on Capers Island early Thursday morning following calls for the distress that were made earlier from a boat in the area.

Coast Guard officials say the two people were taken to Johns Island Executive Airport via helicopter to meet with family and both are uninjured.

The two either ran out of gas or had engine trouble and washed ashore on the island, Coast Guard officials said. The boat wasn't damaged.
