Savannah C-130 crash wreckage now at Joint Base Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) -

Wreckage from the C-130 crash in Savannah on May 2 has been transported to Joint Base Charleston.

It's sitting in a secure holding facility at the base, according to 2nd Lt. R Justin Cole with the 165th airlift wing of the Georgia Air National Guard stationed in Savannah.

The nine people who perished in the crash were all Puerto Rico Air National Guard airmen. 

Approximately 40 Joint Base Charleston personnel were assisting on site to include mortuary affairs/search and recovery team, legal team, chaplain and chaplain assistant, documentation team, and a mental health team, according to Joint Base Charleston spokesman Marvin Krause.
