Current ratings on the Wando River Bridge, major Lowcountry bridges

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - We've dug into the numbers, looking at the most recent information on bridge inspections in our area following Monday's closure of the Wando River Bridge.

According to the National Bridge Inventory, both the eastbound and westbound sides of the Wando Bridge had a sufficiency rating of 77 percent.

The Don Holt, which was inspected in June of 2016, had a 92-percent structural sufficiency rating.

Both the eastbound and westbound sides of the Westmoreland bridges were inspected in June of 2016.

The eastbound lanes fared well with a sufficiency rating of 86 percent. But the westbound lanes scored lower at 82 percent.

The Arthur Ravenel Bridge over the Cooper River scored at 93 percent. That's according to the July 2017 inspection report.

We reached out to the DOT to see if there is any potential impact the increased traffic on the Ravenel may have on the bridge.

Officials said,"We have no concerns with the increased traffic using the Ravenel."
