CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Coast Guard is opening its doors Saturday morning so you can get an up-close look at their operations at the foot of Tradd Street.
From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., visitors will have the chance to see what the Coast Guard does on a day-to-day basis.
"We're gonna have anything from boats in the water like you see here on display not only CG boats, we're gonna have fire department boats, police boats," Ens. Phillip VanderWeit said.
Visitors will be able to get on the boats and take a tour of a Coast Guard Cutter.
There will also be a demonstration of a rescue swimmer jumping out of a helicopter at 11 a.m.
The event is free, and there will be some reserved parking along the Battery.
