Lowcountry native Shelby Rogers will miss an extended period of time after undergoing surgery on her left knee she tweeted on Monday night.

According to Rogers, the surgery took place last week. She's been out of action on the WTA Tour since injuring the knee back in March. She had been hopeful to return in 6 weeks at that point, but she hadn't made enough progress to be back on the court.
Rogers has seen her ranking fall from the low 50's at the beginning of the year down to 111th in the world this week.
