Police: Shot was fired during Mt. Pleasant assault; 1 hospitalized

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Mount Pleasant Police are investigating an assault that sent one victim to the hospital Monday afternoon.

Charleston County dispatchers received the call about an assault and a possible shot fired at 4:59 p.m. Officers responded to the Publix in Park West where they found evidence confirming a shot was fired, Inspector Chip Googe said.

One victim was treated an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries received during the fight, Googe said.

The investigation is ongoing, and Googe said police will release additional information as it becomes available.
