LAS VEGAS (WCSC) - West Ashley alum Ryan McDonald was the latest Lowcountry native to hear his name called during the Major League Baseball draft on Wednesday afternoon as the pitcher was taken in the 37th round by the San Francisco Giants.

McDonald, who just finished his sophomore season at the College of Southern Nevada, went 5-1 with 1 save, a 1.62 ERA and 45 K's in 39 innings of work.

He transferred to CSN after spending his freshman year at West Virginia.

During his time at West Ashley, McDonald was named a Perfect Game Underclass All-American
