CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The downtown Charleston area experienced record-breaking rainfall on Friday.
Downtown Charleston received 2.60 inches of rain between noon and 2:20 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
The previous record of 2.18 inches of rain was set in 1893.
The City of Charleston urges residents to remain up to date on flooded streets via the city's real-time road closure map.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for minor flooding rains in effect until 4:30 p.m. for Charleston County.
