BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

A suspicious package was discovered Monday morning during a security sweep of the Berkeley County courthouse in Moncks Corner, according to Berkeley County Sheriff's Office spokesman Mike Cochran.

The courthouse in the 300 block of California Avenue in Moncks Corner reopened around 11:15 a.m. after the situation was resolved, Cochran said.

Moncks Corner police chief Rick Ollic added that the courthouse was evacuated as a precaution.

According to a post on the county government's Facebook page, Berkeley County Family Court restarted at 11:45 a.m. Circuit Court will set to start back at 1:30 p.m.

Any prior cases that were missed this morning will be rescheduled, the post stated.
