NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - An investigation into a possible illegal gambling house in North Charleston has led to charges for a Jacksonville, Florida man.

Steve Zhang is charged with operating an illegal gambling house at suite C-11 of 5700 Dorchester Road where police found multiple gambling machines inside on Friday morning, according to the incident report.

Investigators were looking into an illegal gambling complaint. Officers saw Zhang leave the building and put a book bag inside his car when he saw officers nearby, the report stated. When Zhang was questioned, he admitted to 11 gambling machines inside the business and also said the bag in the car contained money from the machines, the report stated.

A search of the business uncovered more than $4,000 in Zhang's bag, two ledgers, the 11 machines, 13 office chairs, a computer monitor, multiple keys to the machines and a notebook with names in it from a desk drawer, according to the report.

Zhang was issued a courtesy summons because of his cooperation in the investigation, the report stated.
