JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide in James Island.

Deputies responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Greenhill road shortly before 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

When deputies arrived at the scene, the saw a man in a car parked at the end of Greenhill Road. He was unresponsive and suffered from gunshot wounds.

Deputies reportedly attempted life-saving measures but were not successful. Deputies found several spent firearm shell casings near the car.

Detectives and forensic investigators responded to the scene to investigate the incident.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
