JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

Charleston County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a shooting Tuesday morning when one person was hospitalized.

It happened in the 1000 block of Greenhill Road, the same area where a person was found dead in a car on Sunday night.  The coroner's office identified the victim in Sunday's shooting as 28-year-old Kurt Melton of James Island.

On Tuesday morning, deputies arrived in the 1000 block of Greenhill Road to find a woman inside the house with a gunshot wound, Charleston County Sheriff's Office spokesman Roger Antonio said.

An unknown person fired multiple shots into a house and hit one person, Antonio said. The shooting victim had serious injuries but is recovering.

Detectives and forensic investigators believe the shooting incidents are related and are working to determine a motive.

Anybody with information is asked to call the Charleston County Sheriff's Office at 843-202-1700 or CrimeStoppers of the Lowcountry at 843-554-1111.
