CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Live 5 News' parent company Raycom Media has announced a new, innovative over-the-top app to deliver quality on-demand journalism to its viewers.
InvestigateTV is available right now on Roku and will be released to other digital streaming services soon. Viewers can search "InvestigateTV" to find the app on Roku devices. InvestigateTV will be added to Amazon Fire and Apple TV later this year.
All of Live 5 News' investigative content can also be found under the investigates tab on the website.
The app will showcase longer-form reporting not only from Raycom Media stations such as Live 5 News, but a select group of partners including ProPublica, News21 at Arizona State University's Cronkite School of Journalism, and NerdWallet.
"We know viewers are interested in meaningful investigations that dig deeper into issues they face in their everyday lives," Raycom Media President & CEO Pat LaPlatney said."We are thrilled to offer InvestigateTV, a place to highlight the tremendous efforts of our Raycom Media National Investigative Unit and our outstanding content partners."
Additionally, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation is investing $188,000 in Pulitzer Prize-winning ProPublica. The non-profit news organization can collaborate with Raycom Media in producing original investigative reporting for InvestigateTV.
"We are thrilled to expand ProPublica's video journalism into new platforms through this exciting partnership with Raycom Media," ProPublica editor-in-chief Stephen Engelberg said. "We look forward to reaching new audiences, bringing greater attention to our investigations, and heightening our ability to spur impact."
InvestigateTV functions as both a watchdog and a resource for consumers. It highlights in-depth stories that matter most.
Live 5 News also offers its own news and weather apps. Just search for "Live 5 News" in the app store.
