CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Details are few and there are still a lot of questions, but there's no doubt the summit in Singapore with President Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un was historic.
If North Korea follows through with complete de-nuclearization, the Korean Peninsula will be a safer place. The world will be a safer place.
If the Korean War is declared officially over after more than 65 years, it will not only be historic but mean a better life millions of people in the region.
If it means the remains of more than six thousand American soldiers killed or missing return home for proper burial, it will bring some peace and comfort to families.
There are some who seemed to hope the summit would fail. It's early, but all signs are pointed in the right direction.
Can a dictator be trusted? We'll see.
America would be wise to follow the example of Ronald Reagan who often quoted the Russian proverb, "Trust but verify."
