NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston Police arrested a Summerville man in connection with a 2015 burglary at Northwoods Mall.
Brandon Romaine Smith is charged with grand larceny, second-degree burglary and malicious injury to personal property, according to jail records.
Smith was arrested Wednesday morning, police spokesman Spencer Pryor said.
Police say he broke into Northwoods Mall on July 29, 2015, by smashing out the front glass to an entry door near the food court, then smashed the front glass of Diamond and Gold Depot. Smith is accused of stealing $40,000 worth of jewelry.
Surveillance video showed the burglary happened at approximately 3:24 a.m. and that the burglar used bolt cutters to smash open a display case to steal the jewelry, an incident report states.
Smith was being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center pending a bond hearing Wednesday afternoon, Pryor said.
