Power restored after crews work downed power lines on Rivers Avenue

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Emergency officials say crews were on the scene of downed power lines in North Charleston Thursday night. 

According to authorities, it was in the area of Rivers Avenue near Otranto. 

Motorists say a number of lanes were closed as crews work the scene. Those lanes have since been re-opened. 

About 280 customers in the area were affected; more than 500 customers were affected earlier.  

Authorities say initial reports state that the power lines were brought down by strong winds. 

North Charleston fire and police crews responded to the scene.
