CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - An advisory for minor flooding has been extended until 1:30 a.m. for Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties.
Affected areas include Downtown Charleston, North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Isle of Palms, Summerville, Goose Creek, Hanahan, Moncks Corner and West Ashley.
According to the National Weather Service, at 11:25 p.m. doppler radar indicated bands of showers and thunderstorms moving across Dorchester County, much of Berkeley County and central Charleston County.
"These storms are moving slowly north and will spread into the rest of Berkeley and upper Charleston Counties soon," NWS officials said. "The storms are capable of producing localized rainfall amounts in excess of 2 inches."
Reports state as much as 2 to 3 inches of rain has already fallen across portions of West Ashley. Minor flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas is likely.
