Charleston to hand out free school supplies at First Day Festival on Aug. 12

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Mark your calendars! Charleston's annual giveaway of school supplies is set for Aug. 12.

The city's First Day Festival welcomes thousands of students and their families every year.

This year's festival runs from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Liberty Square and the Aquarium and Gadsdenboro Park.

Students and their families will receive free school supplies and information about available support services for students. They also learn about healthy snacks and enjoy festival entertainment that includes tours of the South Carolina Aquarium and boat rides.

The festival is made possible through contributions from people and businesses. To sign up your business or organization to conduct a school supply drive or donate as an individual, Ebony Venson at 843-965-4190.
