Recipe from Laura Julian of Stafford, Kan.
1 pound hamburger
1 pound Medium hot sausage
1 small onion chopped
1 cup uncooked rice
1 large head of cabbage
5 tablespoons vinegar
salt
pepper
Cut the core out of cabbage head and boil till semi tender and drain(save water). Mix hamburger, sausage, onion, rice, salt, and pepper. Add vinegar to saved water and mix 1/2 cup into meat mixture. Pull individual leaves off the head of cabbage careful not to tear them. Make meat balls to place in cabbage leaves. Roll meatballs up in cabbage leaves placing them in the pot you cooked the cabbage in. When leaves are rolled up with meat mixture pour remaining saved water over roll ups and boil for about 1 hour or till meat is done on low heat. These are even better reheated. You can also substitute the boiling water with tomato juice, takes a large can of tomato juice.
