CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Thirty one year old John Henry Platts is wanted on a charge of Strong Armed Robbery in connection with a November 6th incident at the Residence Inn on Ripley Point Drive.
"What a strong armed robbery is, no weapon was shown. No weapon was implied," Charleston City Police Corporal Fred Bowie said. "Apparently came in through the laundry room, intimidated the clerk, threatened her with some physical harm, and went to the register, opened the register and took the money out. Left by the same route."
Police say Platts off the robbery by covering himself with a blanket from the business and then startling the clerk.
"Probably picked it up when he made his entrance into the laundry room," Corporal Bowie said.
"Guy would always be considered dangerous," he added. "Anybody who commits a robbery is always considered dangerous. Even though there was no weapon shown or implied does not mean that this person didn't have a weapon with him at the time."
John Platt stands 6'0" and weighs about 200 lbs. His last known address was on Kershaw Street in North Charleston.
