WATCHING THE TROPICS...

Widely scattered showers and storms are possible today across the Lowcountry as our unsettled weather pattern shows no sign of ending any time soon. Keep the umbrellas handy over the next couple of days as the chance of afternoon and evening showers and storms looks like it will be on the increase.

We're keeping a close eye an area of disturbed weather in the Caribbean that is poised to move into the Gulf of Mexico and could ruin some Memorial Day weekend plans. The National Hurricane Center has increased the odds of development to 40% within the next 5 days. That means there is a chance that we have a tropical depression, or storm, in the Gulf of Mexico heading into the holiday weekend. This storm will likely move onshore somewhere between Louisiana and Florida by the weekend. This will further increase the rain across the Southeast leading to a washout of a weekend in many spots. It is still too early to tell how much rain we will see out of this storm. We'll keep you posted!
