Video shows car crashing into Lowcountry fish store

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Tideline Aquatics in Hanahan is working to repair its shop after a driver crashed into the building on Friday.

Surveillance video shows employees inside the moment the crash happens.

Hahahan Police say Deborah Fields drove into business on Yeamans Hall Road.

Police say the workers walked away with minor injuries and that the driver has been released from the hospital.

The crash was captured from multiple angles.

Authorities say they were initially investigating the incident as a DUI case, but police say they were not able to do a breathalyzer test on the scene before Fields went to the hospital.

Fields is expected to be charged with leaving the scene of an accident and with reckless driving, according to police.

The owner of Tideline Aquatics, Chris Deer, provided the following update:

“I will give an update that all of our live aquarium fish are happy and healthy and oblivious to the chaos going on around them. I am here doing some maintenance now in between appointments with insurance adjusters. I would like to say thank you to every single one of our customers who have contacted us by phone email and private messages that we are so very grateful for their support. Tideline Aquatics will make it through this terrible event. We will be open and serving our customers again as soon as possible.”
